The University of Dayton is a top-tier Catholic research university committed to the common good, and we value our inclusive, close-knit community. Rooted in our Marianist values, we educate the whole person in a family spirit, strengthening each student’s formation of faith; fortifying their passion for service, justice and peace; and equipping students for adaptation and change.
Academics
We offer 80+ majors in the Arts and Sciences, Business, Education and Health Sciences and Engineering, as well as minors and Bachelor’s-Plus-Master’s programs, which allow you to earn your bachelor’s degree at an accelerated pace and at a discounted rate.
We believe in empowering you to explore your unique gifts and talents so you can live a life of purpose, meaning and fulfillment. Through our Discover Programs, you can explore different academic areas before it’s time to select your major, all while staying on track for graduation. With our transdisciplinary Common Academic Program, you’ll put together a plan that supports your own interests and goals while developing skills employers are looking for, like leadership, conflict resolution and more.
If you’re wondering how the courses you’ve already taken could transfer to UD, we can help. To receive a preliminary credit evaluation, send your intended major, unofficial transcript and anticipated start term to creditevaluation@udayton.edu. You can also receive credit for AP, IB and College Credit Plus credits.
Experiential Learning
UD is ranked in the top 20 “Best Schools for Internships” in the nation, and we provide experiential learning opportunities like internships and co-ops that prepare you for a meaningful career.
No matter which degree you pursue, you’ll be challenged to open yourself to the world and learn from firsthand experience. Whether it’s conducting innovative research with professors, running one of the largest student-run businesses in the nation, working in one of the Fortune 500 companies located on campus or bringing sustainable technologies to developing countries, you’ll be encouraged to develop real solutions that create lasting change in the world.
Community
Since the university was founded in 1850, we’ve promoted an atmosphere of helping each other, challenging one another, having fun together and working for the common good. With more than 270 student clubs, including 35 focused on service and social justice, you’ll discover an activity to match your passions and talents.
The UD Flyers compete at the NCAA Division I level, and half of our students play intramural sports.
Our intentional learning and living environment helps students build community and prepare for a lifetime of leadership and service. It’s one of the reasons 85% of students choose to live on campus or in our unique student neighborhood all four years.
Outcomes
We are nationally recognized for helping students succeed after graduation. Last year, 97% of students found success within six months of graduation, and of those employed, 97% are working full-time. We’re so committed to our students’ success that Money ranked us in the top 25 “Most Transformative Colleges” for graduation rates, earnings and student loan repayment.
